Sydney is the owner of Head Rush Salon & Spa in downtown Sioux City. Her passion for hair began at a young age. With nearly two decades of experience, Sydney has built a full-service salon that’s all about connection, confidence, and community. From confidence-boosting colors to styling life’s special moments, she strives to make every guest feel right at home. Sydney opened Head Rush with support from her husband and continues to grow it into a space where clients and stylists love to be.

Salon Manager & Stylist
Born and raised in Sioux City and now living in Akron, IA, Madison always knew she wanted a career that let her be creative and connect with people. As the Salon Manager and stylist at Head Rush Salon & Spa, she loves creating customized colors and cuts that help guests feel confident and beautiful. Madison also has a passion for wedding and event styling and enjoys being part of those special moments. When she’s not behind the chair, she’s a dog mom to Wyffels & Waylon, golfing or working on DIY home projects. Madison joined Head Rush right after graduating cosmetology school in 2023 and she’s been growing with the salon ever since.

As a Matrix Educator, she’s passionate about empowering fellow stylists to grow in their craft. Sara Dicus | Stylist & Hand-Tied Extension Specialist
With over 20 years in the hair industry, she brings a blend of experience and artistry to every guest in her chair. Specializing in color, extensions, and precision cuts, she’s passionate about creating looks that feel effortless and timeless. Faith and family - her husband and three kids remain at the heart of everything she does. She proudly works with “SEVEN” haircare products to keep her clients’ hair healthy and radiant.

Lisa Woods | Stylist
Originally from Australia, she’s been in the hair industry for over 20 years. Though she’s no longer taking new clients, she continues to share her creativity through art and yoga - and is the artist behind the murals featured throughout the salon.

Megan Whitcomb | Stylist
After 16 years behind the chair, she now takes clients by referral while continuing to pour her energy into movement and mindfulness. She’s a pilates instructor at Reform & yoga instructor at Evolve, finding joy in helping others look and feel their best - inside and out.

Leah has been a dedicated stylist for over 20 years and brings wealth of experience and passion to every client she works with. She joined Head Rush when it first opened in 2019 and continues to provide exceptional service. Leah values the long-standing relationships she’s built throughout her career and is currently accepting referrals only.

Virginia Padron | Stylist & Men's Grooming Specialist
Originally from Sioux City, Iowa, Virginia has been in the industry for over 10 years. She joined Head Rush in 2024 and couldn’t be happier to continue growing in the industry she loves. Known for her precision and attention to detail, Virginia specializes in men’s cuts and loves creating custom hair transformations. She’s currently accepting new clients and always looks forward to someone new in her chair. Outside of the salon, she’s a proud dog mom to her husky mix, Pablo, and enjoys coffee, music, and spending time with her family.

With over a decade of experience behind the chair, Joseline blends skill, and heart into every service she provides. She specializes in color, highlights, balayage, haircuts, clipper cuts, updos and perms - creating soft, dimensional looks that reflect each guest’s individuality and lifestyle. Joseline believes great hair goes beyond the style itself; it’s about helping every client feel seen, confident and radiant, leaving her chair with refreshed glow (and maybe a little extra sparkle).

Graduated from Aveda Institute in Des Moines in 2024 and joined Head Rush soon after. She loves creating bright blondes, dimensional colors, and effortless thermal styles. When she’s not behind the chair, she’s spending time with her dog Cooper or curled up with good book.

Shelly Merritt | Stylist
Shelly is an alternative hairstylist who’s been behind the chair for over 2 years. She loves creating unique looks through all types of haircuts and enjoys working with both blonding and vivid colors. When she’s not at the salon you can find her actively apart of Daughters of the Nile and connecting with people in a whole different way.

Kaelie Derby | Stylist
Graduated from Lake Area Tech College in South Dakota in 2025 and began her journey at Head Rush shortly after. As a brand-new stylist, she’s passionate about creating blondes, dimensional and solid colors, and elegant updos - bringing a fresh and creative touch to every guest.
She is currently accepting new clients and looks forward to growing her chair at Head Rush. Outside of the salon, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and family.

Halle Galles | Stylist
Graduated from PCI Academy in Ames, IA in 2025 and soon joined the Head Rush team. She’s passionate about all things color, cuts, and styling, and loves creating looks that makes her guests feel confident and refreshed. Halle also offers hybrid/airbrush makeup for special events - one of her favorite services- along with gray blending.
She is currently accepting new clients and looks forward to growing her chair at Head Rush. When she’s not behind the chair, you can find her waitressing at her hometown steakhouse in Remsen, cheering at her siblings’ sporting events, or binge-watching Harry Potter movies.
